The air induction system provides contaminant and sound filtration of the outside air as it is drawn into the engine. A remotely mounted air cleaner (4), prevents contaminants in the air, from entering the engine. The mass air flow (MAF) sensor (3), measures the volume of filtered air as it passes through the air duct assembly (2). This volumetric measurement is used to determine proper fuel metering under all engine operating conditions. The air then enters the engine by flowing through the throttle body (1), into the intake manifold, through the cylinder head intake ports, and into the cylinders.
