    Object Number: 55266  Size: SH
  1. Apply sealer GM P/N 1052080 or the equivalent to the threads of the front oil gallery plugs (1 and 2).
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the oil gallery plug (1).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the oil gallery plug (1) to 19 N·m (14 lb ft).

  5. Install the oil gallery plug (2).
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the oil gallery plug (2) to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).

  7. Apply sealer GM P/N 1052080 or the equivalent to the rear oil gallery plug threads (1-4)
  8. Install the oil gallery plugs (1 and 4).
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the oil gallery plugs (1 and 4) to 19 N·m (14 lb ft).

  10. Install the oil gallery plugs (2 and 3).
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the oil gallery plugs (2 and 3) to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).

  12. Apply sealer GM P/N 1052080 or the equivalent to the threads of the coolant drain plugs.
  13. Install the left coolant drain plug.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the drain plug to 19 N·m (14 lb ft).

  15. Install the right coolant drain plug.
  16. Tighten
    Tighten the drain plug to 19 N·m (14 lb ft).


    Object Number: 623104  Size: SH
  17. Apply sealant GM P/N 12345493 or the equivalent to the outside edge of the coolant expansion plugs.
  18. Install the coolant expansion plugs.
  19. A properly installed coolant expansion plug will be flush or slightly below flush with the face of the block.

  20. Install the crankshaft postion sensor into the side of the engine block.
  21. Install the crankshaft position sensor bolt.
  22. Tighten
    Tighten the crankshaft position sensor stud to 8 N·m (71 lb in).


    Object Number: 187001  Size: SH
  23. Apply sealer GM P/N 1052080 or the equivalent to the threads of the knock sensor.
  24. Install the knock sensor.
  25. Tighten
    Tighten the knock sensor to 21 N·m (15 lb ft).
