Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the crankshaft oil deflector. Refer to Crankshaft Oil Deflector Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 55270  Size: SH
  3. Remove the oil pump retaining bolt.
  4. Remove the oil pump with the pickup and drive shaft extension.
  5. Clean all of the parts in a cleaning solvent. Dry the parts with compressed air.
  6. Inspect the pump body and the pump cover for the following conditions:
  7. • Cracks
    • Scoring
    • Casting imperfections
    • Damaged threads

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 55270  Size: SH
  1. Install the oil pump drive shaft extension and the oil pump with pickup. Engage the shaft extension into the drive gear.
  2. Install the oil pump retaining bolt.
  3. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 54 N·m (40 lb ft).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the crankshaft oil deflector. Refer to Crankshaft Oil Deflector Replacement .
