Removal Procedure

Tools Required

J 37096 Flywheel Holding Tool


    Object Number: 57321  Size: SH
  1. Remove the transaxle.
  2. Remove the flywheel attaching bolts. Use the J 37096 in order to prevent crankshaft rotation.
  3. Remove the flywheel retainer.
  4. Remove the flywheel.
  5. Clean the flywheel bolt threads and holes.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 57321  Size: SH
  1. Apply GM Thread Locking Compound to all of the flywheel bolts.
  2. Install the flywheel.
  3. Install the flywheel retainer.
  4. Install the flywheel bolts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 82 N·m (60 lb ft).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the J 37096 .
  7. Install the transaxle.
