Removal Procedure
- Remove the left exhaust manifold. Refer to
Exhaust Manifold Replacement
.
- Disconnect all of the spark plug wires at the coil.
- Remove the electronic ignition module electrical connections.
- Remove the spark plug wire loom retaining nut and bolt.
- Raise the vehicle. Suitably support the vehicle. Refer to SECTION
0A.
- Remove the starter motor. Lay it aside with the wiring intact.
Refer to SECTION 6D2.
- Remove the electronic ignition module.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Remove the oil level indicator.
- Remove the oil level indicator tube using pliers.
Installation Procedure
- Use the following procedure in order to install the oil level indicator tube:
1.1. | Hand start the tube in the hole. |
1.2. | Use a suitable tool in order to drive the tube into the engine
block. |
1.3. | Ensure that the tube is fully seated. |
- Install the oil level indicator tube bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the oil level indicator.
- Raise the vehicle. Suitably support the vehicle. Refer to SECTION
0A.
- Install the electronic ignition module.
- Install the starter motor. Refer to SECTION 6D2.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Install the spark plug wire loom nut and the loom bolt.
- Connect the electric ignition module electrical connections.
- Install all of the spark plug wires to the coils.
- Install the left exhaust manifold. Refer to
