Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the camshaft timing belt tensioner actuator plate.
  2. Remove the camshaft timing belt tensioner actuator. Refer to Timing Belt Tensioner Actuator Removal .
  3. Important: The pivot bushing can fall out. Hold in the pulley with a flat magnet, tape or cup plug.

  4. Remove the actuator tensioner pulley bolt.
  5. Remove the actuator tensioner pulley.

Installation Procedure

Important: The camshaft timing belt should be on at this time.

  1. Install the tensioner actuator pulley arm.
  2. Important: The arm bushing and pivot tube must be clean but not lubricated.

  3. Install the tensioner actuator pulley arm bolt.
  4. After starting the pivot bolt, rotate the arm counterclockwise in order to position the square lug at 6 o'clock.
  5. Tighten
Tighten the tensioner actuator pulley bolt to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Make sure the tensioner actuator component rotates freely.
  7. Install the timing belt tensioner actuator plate.
  8. Install the timing belt tensioner actuator. Refer to Timing Belt Tensioner Actuator Removal .
