Rear Camshaft Cover Replacement Left Side
Removal Procedure
- Drain the cooling system.
- Remove the air cleaner duct.
- Disconnect the upper radiator hose.
- Disconnect the exhaust crossover pipe. Refer to
Exhaust Crossover Replacement
.
- Remove the exhaust manifold. Refer to
Exhaust Manifold Replacement
.
- Remove the heater pipe from the coolant pump to the upper intake
manifold.
- Remove the engine mount strut. Refer to Engine Mount Strut Replacement
.
- Remove the engine lift support.
- Remove the camshaft carrier rear cover mounting bolt.
- Remove the camshaft carrier cover and the gasket.
- Clean any gasket material from the camshaft carrier rear cover
mating surfaces.
Installation Procedure
- Install the camshaft carrier rear cover and the gasket.
- Install the camshaft carrier rear cover mounting bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the camshaft carrier rear cover mounting bolt to 10 N·m
(89 lb in).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the engine lift support.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 70 N·m (52 lb ft).
- Install the mount strut. Refer to Engine Mount Strut Replacement
.
- Install the heater pipe from the coolant pump to the upper intake
manifold.
Tighten
• | Tighten the bolt to 11 N·m (92 lb in). |
• | Tighten the nut to 25 N·m (18 lb ft). |
- Install the exhaust manifold. Refer to
Exhaust Manifold Replacement
.
- Install the exhaust crossover pipe. Refer to
Exhaust Crossover Replacement
.
- Connect the upper radiator hose.
- Install the air cleaner duct.
- Refill the cooling system.
Rear Camshaft Cover Replacement Right Side
- Remove the air cleaner duct.
- Disconnect the fuel lines.
- Remove the master cylinder from the brake booster. Refer to Master
Cylinder.
- Remove the camshaft carrier rear cover mounting bolt.
- Remove the camshaft carrier rear cover and the gasket.
- Clean any gasket material from the mating surfaces of the camshaft
carrier rear cover.
Installation Procedure
- Install the camshaft carrier rear cover and the gasket.
- Install the camshaft carrier rear cover mounting bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the camshaft carrier rear cover mounting bolt/screw to 11 N·m
(97 lb in).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring

- Install the master cylinder to the brake booster. Refer to SECTION
5A.
- Connect the fuel lines.
- Install the air cleaner duct.
