J 38619 Camshaft and Intermediate Shaft Seal Installer

1. Remove the camshaft oil seal.
2. Pry the oil seal out with a screwdriver or an equivalent tool. Do not damage the aluminum surfaces around the seal.
3. Inspect the camshaft for any signs of wear or other damage. Replace the camshaft if any of these conditions are found.
4. Inspect the camshaft lobes for wear.
5. Inspect the nose of the camshaft for any signs of wear or damage. Replace the camshaft if any grooves are found. Pressure marks are acceptable.
6. Inspect the camshaft carrier for scratches or other damage. Check the surface around the camshaft oil seal.
7. Install the camshaft seal using theJ 38619 .
