- Inspect the threads.
- Inspect the bearing surfaces for the following conditions:
| • | Overheating (discoloration) |
Important: Do not attempt to repair the intermediate shaft. Replace the shaft if
the shaft is damaged.
- Measure the bearing journals using the following procedure:
| 4.1. | Use a micrometer in order to measure runout and diameter. Replace
the intermediate shaft if the measurements are out of specification. |
| 4.2. | If a new intermediate shaft has been installed, add GM P/N 1052367
E.O.S., or equivalent, to the engine oil. |
