For 1990-2009 cars only
  1. Inspect the threads.
  2. Inspect the bearing surfaces for the following conditions:
  3. • Wear
    • Galling
    • Gouges
    • Overheating (discoloration)

    Important: Do not attempt to repair the intermediate shaft. Replace the shaft if the shaft is damaged.

  4. Measure the bearing journals using the following procedure:
  5. 4.1. Use a micrometer in order to measure runout and diameter. Replace the intermediate shaft if the measurements are out of specification.
    4.2. If a new intermediate shaft has been installed, add GM P/N 1052367 E.O.S., or equivalent, to the engine oil.
