  1. Install the timing belt idler pulley.
  2. Important: A loose idler pulley bolt and spacer does not indicate a defective part.

Ensure that the plastic ridge by the bolt on the idler pulley is pointing away from the engine.

The part number should face outward.

  3. Install the idler pulley mounting bolt.
  4. Tighten
Tighten the timing belt idler pulley bolt to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Inspect the timing belt idler pulley in order to ensure that the pulley rotates freely and is tight on the timing belt front cover.
