Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose Replacement General

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the electric engine cooling fan.
  2. Remove the transaxle oil cooler lower hose.
  3. Remove the transaxle outer oil cooler pipe from the pipe.
  4. Remove the bolt and screw.
  5. Remove the clip and the retainer.

  6. Object Number: 99863  Size: SH
  7. Remove the pipe from the radiator.

Installation Procedure

  1. Inspect that the thread engagement is correct.

  2. Object Number: 99863  Size: SH
  3. Install the pipe on the radiator.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the pipe to 21 N·m (15 lb ft).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the retainer.
  6. Install the clip.
  7. Install the pipe to the following components:
  8. 5.1. The retainer
    5.2. The clip
  9. Install the bolt.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 3 N·m (26 lb in).

  11. Install the following components to the pipe:
  12. 7.1. The transmission oil cooler lower hose
    7.2. The transmission outer oil cooler pipe
  13. Install the electric engine cooling fan.
  14. Adjust the transmission fluid level.

Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose Replacement Auxiliary

Removal Procedure

If the transmission cooler pipes must be replaced, use a pipe with the following specifications:

    • Double wrapped
    • Brazed steel
    • Meets GM specification 123M

Notice: Allow sufficient clearance around transmission oil cooler pipes in order to prevent damage or wear which may cause fluid loss.

  1. Remove the auxiliary oil cooler. Refer to Transmission Fluid Auxiliary Cooler Replacement .
  2. Remove the upper cooler pipe.

Installation Procedure

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application.   1. Ensure that the thread engagement is correct.
  2. Install the upper cooler pipe.
  3. Install the auxiliary oil cooler. Refer to Transmission Fluid Auxiliary Cooler Replacement .
  4. Adjust the transmission fluid level.
