1. Remove the drive axle. Refer to Drive Axle in Drive Axle On-Vehicle Service.
2. Remove the seal with a screwdriver.
3. Do not damage the seal bore.

Tools Required:

1. J 34115 Axle Seal Installer
2. J 37292-B Axle Seal Protector

1. Install a new seal using J 34115 .
2. Lubricate the seal lip with a light coat of transmission fluid.
3. Install J 37292-B in the seal.
4. Guide the axle shaft carefully past the lip seal.
5. Do not let the shaft splines make contact with any portion of the seal lip surface.
6. Install the drive axle. Refer to Drive Axle in Drive Axle On-Vehicle Service.
7. Remove J 37292-B .

Notice: Do not overfill the transmission. Overfilling will result in foaming, loss of fluid, and possible damage to the transmission.

8. Adjust the fluid level.
