Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the spark plug wire from the number five cylinder spark plug. Refer to Spark Plug Wire Harness Replacement in Engine Electrical.

  2. Object Number: 190506  Size: SH
  3. Remove the oil level indicator.
  4. Remove the oil level indicator tube bracket nut from the oil level indicator tube bracket.
  5. Remove the oil level indicator tube.

Installation Procedure

  1. Clean the oil level indicator tube.
  2. Apply sealant around the oil level indicator tube 12.7 mm (0.50 in) below the bead. Use GM sealant P/N 12345493 or the equivalent.

  3. Object Number: 190507  Size: SH
  4. Install the oil level indicator tube into the engine block.

  5. Object Number: 190506  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the nut to the oil level indicator tube bracket.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the oil level indicator tube bracket nut to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  8. Install the oil level indicator.
  9. Connect the spark plug wire to the number five cylinder spark plug. Refer to Spark Plug Wire Harness Replacement in Engine Electrical.
