Exhaust Heat Shield Replacement Front

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 368873  Size: SH
  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Notice: Refer to Catalytic Converter Movement Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Suitably support the exhaust system.
  4. Remove the three way catalytic converter for access. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement .
  5. Remove the exhaust pipe front heat shield bolts.
  6. Remove the exhaust pipe front heat shield.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 368873  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the exhaust pipe front heat shield and the bolts.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the exhaust pipe front heat shield bolts to 7.5 N·m (66.38 lb in).

  3. Install the three way catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement .
  4. Inspect the exhaust system for leaks and underbody contact.
  5. Lower the vehicle.

Exhaust Heat Shield Replacement Catalytic Converter

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Notice: Refer to Catalytic Converter Movement Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Remove the three way catalytic converter for access. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement .

  4. Object Number: 194733  Size: SH
  5. Remove the catalytic converter heat shield nuts and bolts.
  6. Remove the catalytic converter heat shield.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure.   1. Install the catalytic converter heat shield with the bolts and nuts:
  2. • Tighten the catalytic converter heat shield bolts.

    Tighten
    Tighten the catalytic converter heat shield bolts to 6 N·m (53.1 lb in).

    • Tighten the catalytic converter heat shield nuts

    Tighten
    Tighten the catalytic converter heat shield nuts to 3.2 N·m (28.32 lb in).

  3. Install the three way catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement .
  4. Inspect the exhaust system for leaks and underbody contact.
  5. Lower the vehicle.

Exhaust Heat Shield Replacement Exhaust Pipe

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Notice: Refer to Catalytic Converter Movement Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Suitably support the exhaust system.
  4. Remove the catalytic converter bolts.
  5. Remove the hanger bracket insulators from the exhaust system as necessary.
  6. Lower the exhaust system for access.
  7. Remove the exhaust pipe heat shield bolts.
  8. Remove the exhaust pipe heat shield.

  1. Install the exhaust pipe heat shield.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure.   3. Install the exhaust pipe heat shield bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the exhaust pipe heat shield bolts to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  5. Return the exhaust system to the original position.
  6. Install the hanger bracket insulators to the exhaust system.
  7. Install the catalytic converter bolts.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the catalytic converter bolts to 45 N·m (33 lb in).

  9. Inspect the exhaust system for leaks and underbody contact.
  10. Lower the vehicle.
