Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the air cleaner and duct assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.1L.
  2. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  3. Remove the radiator. Refer to Radiator Replacement in Engine Cooling.

  4. Object Number: 412103  Size: SH
  5. Remove the compressor hose nut (2) from the condenser and position the line aside.

  6. Object Number: 412091  Size: SH
  7. Remove the liquid line nut (2) from the condenser and position the line aside.

  8. Object Number: 413292  Size: SH
  9. Remove the condenser.
  10. Remove and discard the O-ring seals on the liquid and compressor lines.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 413292  Size: SH
  1. Install the condenser.
  2. Important: Lubricate the new O-ring seal with mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.

  3. Install the new O-ring seals onto the liquid and compressor lines. Refer to O-Ring Replacement .

  4. Object Number: 412091  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the liquid line and nut (2) at the condenser.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the liquid line nut to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  7. Install the compressor hose and nut (2) to the condenser.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the compressor hose nut to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  9. Install the radiator. Refer to Radiator Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  10. Evacuate and recharge the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  11. Inspect the system for leaks. Refer to Leak Testing .
  12. Install the air cleaner and duct assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.1L.
