Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the air cleaner and duct assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.1L.
  2. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the A/C refrigerant pressure sensor.

  4. Object Number: 491758  Size: SH
  5. Remove the liquid line/suction line bracket.

  6. Object Number: 412091  Size: SH
  7. Remove the liquid line fitting (2) at the condenser.

  8. Object Number: 406231  Size: SH
  9. Remove the liquid line fitting (1) at the orifice.
  10. Important: Use care when removing the tube.

  11. Remove the liquid line.
  12. Remove and discard the O-rings.

Installation Procedure

    Important: The new O-ring seals must be lubricated with mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.

  1. Install new O-ring seals onto the liquid line. Refer to O-Ring Replacement .
  2. Install the liquid line into place.

  3. Object Number: 406231  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the liquid line nut (1) at the orifice.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the liquid line nut to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  6. Install the liquid line nut (2) at the condenser.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the liquid line nut to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  8. Install the liquid line/suction line bracket.
  9. Connect the electrical connector to the A/C refrigerant pressure sensor.
  10. Evacuate and charge the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  11. Inspect the system for leaks. Refer to Leak Testing .
  12. Install the air cleaner and duct assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.1L.
