Removal Procedure

    Important: The rear seat retractors are a DUAL-MODE type retractor with emergency locking features and automatic locking features. Use the automatic locking feature when using a child seat.

  1. Remove the rear seat cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement in Seats.
  2. Remove the seatback. Refer to Rear Seat Back Replacement in Seats.
  3. Remove the rear quarter lower trim panel. Refer to Rear Quarter Lower Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
  4. Remove the rear shelf trim panel. Refer to Rear Window Shelf Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.

  6. Remove the seat belt retractor bolt (2).

  7. Object Number: 178579  Size: SH
  8. Unhook the seat belt retractor (1) from the vehicle.

  9. Object Number: 178578  Size: SH
  10. Remove the lower seat belt anchor plate bolt (2).
  11. Remove the seat retractor side belt (3) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 178578  Size: SH
  1. Install the seat retractor side belt (3) to the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the lower seat belt anchor bolt (2).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the lower seat belt anchor plate bolt to 42 N·m (31 lb ft).

  5. Hook the seat belt retractor (1) to the vehicle.

  6. Object Number: 178581  Size: SH
  7. Install the seat belt retractor bolt (2).
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the seat belt retractor bolt to 42 N·m (31 lb ft).

  9. Install the rear window trim panel. Refer to Rear Window Shelf Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
  10. Install the rear quarter lower trim panel. Refer to Rear Quarter Lower Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
  11. Install the rear seat seatback. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement in Seats.
  12. Install the rear seat cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Back Replacement in Seats.
