Removal Procedure

J 39822 Wiper Arm Puller


    Object Number: 334231  Size: SH
  1. Turn the ignition switch to the ACCY position.
  2. Set the wiper switch to the PULSE position.
  3. Turn the ignition switch off when the wiper arm is in the innerwipe position and not moving.
  4. Disconnect the hose from the nozzle.
  5. Remove the cover from the nut.
  6. Remove the nut from the wiper arm and the wiper transmission drive shaft.
  7. Remove the wiper arm from the wiper transmission drive shaft using the J 39822 .

Installation Procedure

  1. Return the wiper transmission to the park position.
  2. 1.1. Turn the ignition to the ACCY position.
    1.2. Turn the wiper/washer switch on and then off.
    1.3. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  3. Install the wiper arm onto the wiper transmission drive shaft.
  4. 2.1. Position the wiper arm slightly below the stop surface of the park ramp.
    2.2. Push the wiper arm down onto the wiper transmission drive shaft completely.
  5. Install the nut onto the wiper transmission drive shaft and the wiper arm assembly.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 23 N·m (17 lb ft)

  7. Install the cover on the nut.
  8. Lift the wiper arm up onto the park ramp.
  9. Important: Lubricate the hose with windshield washer solvent to ease installation onto the nozzle.

  10. Connect the hose onto the nozzle.

Inspection Procedure

    • Inspect the park position. Both wiper arm assemblies must be snug against park ramps.
    • Inspect the wipe pattern. The dimension should be 55-132 mm (2.17-5.20 in) from the tip of the driver's side wiper blade on the outerwipe to the edge of the glass.
    • The correct park position and outerwipe dimension are determined with the wipers operating at low speed on wet glass.
