Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the RH instrument panel (instrument panel) insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 641555  Size: SH
  3. Remove the screw from the instrument panel compartment hinge.

  4. Object Number: 641554  Size: SH
  5. Release the instrument panel compartment door latch.
  6. Remove the instrument panel compartment from the instrument panel and position the instrument panel compartment to the floor.
  7. Open the instrument panel compartment lamp cover using a small flat-bladed tool.

  8. Object Number: 641552  Size: SH
  9. Disconnect the instrument panel compartment lamp wiring from the instrument panel compartment.

  10. Object Number: 641547  Size: SH
  11. Disconnect the instrument panel compartment lamp retainer from the instrument panel compartment using a small flat-bladed tool.

  12. Object Number: 641549  Size: SH
  13. Remove the instrument panel compartment lamp from the instrument panel compartment.
  14. Remove the instrument panel compartment from the vehicle.

Installation procedure

  1. Position the instrument panel compartment to the floor.

  2. Object Number: 641549  Size: SH
  3. Position the instrument panel compartment lamp to the instrument panel compartment.

  4. Object Number: 641550  Size: SH
  5. Install the instrument panel compartment lamp to the instrument panel compartment pressing into place until fully seated.

  6. Object Number: 641552  Size: SH
  7. Connect the instrument panel compartment lamp wiring to the instrument panel compartment.

  8. Object Number: 641551  Size: SH
  9. Close the instrument panel compartment lamp cover.

  10. Object Number: 641553  Size: SH
  11. Position the instrument panel compartment in to the instrument panel and engage the instrument panel compartment door latch in order to support the instrument panel compartment.
  12. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  13. Install the screws to the instrument panel compartment.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the instrument panel compartment screws to 4 N·m (35 lb in).

  15. Inspect the instrument panel compartment for proper fit and operation.
  16. Install the RH instrument panel insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Replacement .
