Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 641764  Size: SH
  1. Remove the screws from the instrument panel compartment latch.

  2. Object Number: 641768  Size: SH
  3. Remove the instrument panel compartment latch from the instrument panel compartment door.
  4. Remove the instrument panel compartment lock cylinder from the instrument panel compartment latch, if required. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Door Lock Cylinder Replacement .

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the instrument panel compartment lock cylinder to the instrument panel compartment latch, if required. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Door Lock Cylinder Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 641768  Size: SH
  3. Position the IP compartment latch tab to the IP compartment door.

  4. Object Number: 641770  Size: SH
  5. Install the instrument panel compartment latch to the instrument panel compartment door and hold in place.
  6. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Install the screws to the instrument panel compartment latch.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the instrument panel compartment latch screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  9. Inspect the instrument panel latch for proper operation.
