Lock Operation

The following actions occur when you press the LOCK button on the keyless entry transmitter:

  1. The remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR) receives a signal with a valid vehicle access code (VAC).
  2. The RCDLR locks all of the doors.
  3. The headlamp switch receives a lock signal through CKT 49.
  4. The headlamp switch turns ON the courtesy lights for two seconds.
  5. This indicates that the door has locked.

The RCDLR supplies voltage to the coil of the door lock relay. The door lock relay is energized and voltage is supplied to the door lock actuators. The RCDLR CKT 694 provides ground for the driver's door lock actuator through internal contacts. Ground for the other door lock actuators is provided through the contacts of the unlock relay of the door lock relay. All of the door lock actuators run to lock all of the doors.

Unlock Operation

The unlock function is separated into two operations. The operation depends on how the UNLOCK button is pressed on the keyless entry transmitter:

    • When the UNLOCK button is pressed once, the driver's side door is unlocked.
    • When the UNLOCK button is pressed again within five seconds, all of the doors are unlocked.

The unlock function sequence occurs when the following conditions exist:

    • The UNLOCK button is pressed once on the keyless entry transmitter.
    • The RCDLR receives a signal with a valid VAC.

The RCDLR will supply voltage to the driver's door lock actuator through CKT 694. The activator is grounded through the contacts of the door lock relay in the door lock relay. The driver's door lock actuator runs to unlock the driver's side door.

The following actions will occur when the UNLOCK button on the transmitter is pressed twice:

  1. The RCDLR activates the door unlock output at CKT 194.
  2. The RCDLR supplies voltage to the coil of the unlock relay in the door lock relay.
  3. The unlock relay is energized. The unlock relay closes its contacts.
  4. Voltage is supplied to all of the door lock actuators except for the driver's side door.
  5. The actuators are grounded through the ground contacts of the door lock relay.
  6. The actuators run to unlock the doors.

Rear Compartment Lid Release Operation

The following actions occur when you press the rear compartment release button on the keyless entry transmitter:

  1. The RCDLR receives a signal with a valid VAC.
  2. The RCDLR supplies voltage to CKT 382/56.
  3. This voltage is applied to the rear compartment lid lock release actuator.
  4. The rear compartment lid lock release actuator is energized.
  5. The rear compartment lid opens.

Voltage is not supplied to the RCDLR CKT 275 if the following conditions exist:

    • The ignition switch is in the RUN position.
    • The transaxle is shifted out of PARK.

This action prevents the rear compartment lid release from activating while the transaxle is shifted out of PARK.

    • The interior courtesy lights turn on for 36-44 seconds.

The courtesy lights will turn off if the ignition switch is turned to the RUN position within the 36-44 second time frame.

The following actions occur at the end of the 36-44 second time frame:

  1. The headlamp switch activates the sustained interior lighting feature.
  2. The headlamp switch keeps the courtesy lights on for another 16 seconds.
