Keyless Entry System
The keyless entry system provides the following functions:
• | Releases the rear compartment lid of the vehicle |
• | Provides sustained interior illumination |
Sustained interior illumination includes a feature called theater dimming.
Theater dimming slowly dims the lights at the end of the delay time. The delay
time is cancelled if you turn the ignition key to RUN or START. This action
will turn off the lamps.
When the ignition is ON, the sustained interior illumination is inactive.
The courtesy lamps will not illuminate.
The keyless entry system operates on a frequency that is subject to
Federal Communications Commission (FCC) rules. The device complies with Part
15 of the FCC Rules. Operation of the device is subject to the following
2 conditions:
• | The device may not cause harmful interference. |
• | The device must accept any interference that it receives, including
interference that may cause undesired operation. |
Keyless Entry Transmitter
The transmitter is a hand-held
device that has three buttons. The buttons commands the functions of the system.
The transmitter sends a radio signal to the receiver, which helps carry
out the functions of the keyless entry system.
The range of the transmitter is about 1-10 m (3.2-33 ft).
The range may decrease at times. This is normal for any remote control lock
system.
Complete the following steps if the transmitter does not operate or
if you must stand closer to the vehicle in order to operate the transmitter:
• | Determine if the battery requires replacement. |
• | Determine if you are standing too far from the vehicle. You may
need to stand closer during rainy or snowy weather. |
• | Determine if other vehicles or objects are blocking the signal.
Take a few steps to the left or the right. |
Keyless Entry Receiver
The keyless entry receiver is mounted on the rear package shelf. The
receiver is powered through the vehicle's wiring harness. When the correct
transmitter signal is received, the transistor driver within the receiver
will energize the correct relay coil. The receiver will also control which
relays will be energized. This determines whether the driver's door or
all of the doors will open. The receiver also controls the illumination
of the courtesy lamp.
