Adjuster Does Not Lock

Condition

Action

The lock bar is twisted or bent.

    • Straighten the handle. Verify that both sides of the handle release and lock at the same time.
    • Replace the handle, as needed.

The adjuster lock bar spring is broken.

Install a new spring.

The adjuster lock bar spring disconnected.

Connect the spring.

The adjuster lock bar is sticking or binding.

    • Lubricate the lock bar pivot.
    • Replace the adjuster, as needed.

Adjuster Does Not Unlock

Condition

Action

The lock bar handle is twisted or bent.

Straighten or replace the adjuster, as needed.

The adjuster lock bar sticks or binds.

    • Lubricate the lock bar pivot.
    • Replace the adjuster, as needed.

Adjuster is Between Lock Positions

Conditions

Action

DEFINITION: When the left adjuster locks, the right adjuster is between lock positions.

The right adjuster is rearward of the left adjuster.

Loosen the adjuster to floor pan bolts.

The right adjuster is forward of the left adjuster.

Move one of the adjusters as far as possible forward. Move the other adjuster as far as possible rearward.

Seat is Difficult to Move Forward or Rearward

Condition

Action

The adjusters are new or the adjusters are not broken in.

Operate the seat to each of the following positions several times:

    • The full forward position
    • The full rearward position

This action will work the tightness out of the channels.

The adjusters are incorrectly lubricated.

Lubricate the adjuster channels with Lubriplate Auto-Lube A or equivalent.

Bent or damaged channels are causing the adjusters to bind.

Replace the adjuster.

The adjusters are not in parallel alignment with each other.

  1. Loosen the floor pan attaching bolts.
  2. Align the adjusters. Ensure that the adjusters are parallel on the floor pan.
  3. Tighten the bolts.

Seat is Difficult to Tilt Up and Down

Condition

Action

The pivot joints are tight or incorrectly lubricated.

Lubricate the pivot joints.

The tilt handle is broken or malfunctioning.

Replace the tilt handle.

The cable is not connected correctly.

Connect the cable.

The cable is broken.

Install a new cable.
