Removal Procedure
- Open the rear compartment lid.
- Place the protective coverings over the adjacent body panels.
- Disconnect all of the
electrical connectors to the electrical components attached to the rear compartment
lid (3).
- Tie a string to the wire harness. Allow an ample amount of string
in order feed the wire harness back through the rear compartment lid (3).
- Pull the wire harness out of the rear compartment lid (3).
Untie the string leaving it in the lid.
- Remove the bolts (2) from the hinges (1).
- Remove the rear compartment lid (3) from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Align the rear compartment
lid (3) to the hinges (1).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the bolts (2)
to the hinges (1).
Tighten
Tighten the lid hinge bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Attach the string to the wire harness and pull the string through
the rear compartment (3) lid until the wire harness is in position.
Important: When you install the new compartment lid, use mechanic wire in order
to pull the wire harness through the lid.
- Connect the electrical connectors to the electrical components attached
to the rear compartment lid (3).
- Remove the protective coverings from the adjacent body panels.
- Close the rear compartment lid.
