Removal Procedure

    Caution:  When a rear compartment lid hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.

  1. Open the rear compartment.

    2. Object Number: 291979 Size: SH
  2. Use a ½ inch (1.27 mm) inside diameter pipe or equivalent in order to pry up the free end of the rear compartment lid torque rod (3).

    3. Remove the rear compartment torque rod (3) from the bracket.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 291979 Size: SH
  1. Install the hinge end  (2) of the rear compartment lid torque rod (3).
  2. Use a ½ inch (1.27 mm) inside diameter pipe or equivalent in order to install the bracket end of the rear compartment lid torque rod (3) in the notch bracket.
  3. Repeat step 1 and step 2 for the opposite side.
  4. Close the rear compartment.
