FUEL TANK SENDER ASSEMBLY CALIBRATION/POOR MILEAGE

Subject: FUEL TANK SENDER ASSEMBLY CALIBRATION/POOR MILEAGE RANGE

Model and Year: 1990 U VAN (APV)

TO: ALL CHEVROLET DEALERS

Condition:

Comments have been received on 1990 U-vans noting poor vehicle mileage range and/ or poor empty reserve characteristics. Indication to the vehicle operator of these conditions may be that a fuel fill of only 15-16 gallons may be achieved when fuel gauge reads approximately empty.

Cause:

Fuel tank sender calibration and/or concavity (bowing upward) of lower fuel tank surface.

Correction:

Replace existing fuel tank and fuel tank sender assembly with those indicated below following applicable Service Manual procedures.
