SQUEAK AT STEER. COLUMN TO IP (ADD 3M SQUEAK REDUCTION TAPE)

Subject: ELIMINATION OF SQUEAK AT STEERING COLUMN TO INSTRUMENT PANEL

Model and Year: 1990 U VAN (APV)

TO: ALL CHEVROLET DEALERS

Condition:

Squeak and or itch type noise from steering column mast jacket at instrument panel.

Cause:

Steering column contacts instrument panel

Correction:

Add 3M #5430 Squeak Reduction Tape (10 inch length) or equivalent approximately 15 mm from end of bowl as indicated in illustration.

1 . Lower steering column. See Service Manual.

2. Add tape as illustrated.

3. Raise and secure steering column.
