SER.MAN.UPDATE SEC.10 SEATBELT CHILD SEAT TOP STRAP ANCHOR

Subject: CHILD SEAT TOP STRAP ANCHOR

Model and Year: 1990-91 U VANS WITHOUT 3RD ROW SEATING

Child seat top strap anchor plate installation 2nd. row seating, bench or bucket seat LH or RH outboard position only.

1. From rear of vehicle with liftgate open, mark reference point that is 380mm (15 inches) forward of front edge of rear floor trim plate and 165mm (6.5 inches) inward from lower wheelhouse jack storage door (RH side) or ELC door (LH side).

2. At reference marks cut an X through carpet to expose weld nut on floor.

3. Install anchor bolt through anchor plate to weld nut, tighten bolt to 42 N.m. (31 lbs. ft.).

4. Install child seat top strap retaining hook to anchor plate.

Note: Installation of the anchor plate is not required on vehicles equipped with 3rd row seating. With the child seat in the correct position in the 2nd. row, the top strap retaining hook and strap should be attached to the 3rd. row seat forward floor anchor plate pin.
