SQUEAK AT STEER. COLUMN TO IP (ADD 3M SQUEAK REDUCTION TAPE)

SUBJECT: ELIMINATION OF SQUEAK AT STEERING COLUMN TO INSTRUMENT PANEL (ADD 3M SQUEAK REDUCTION TAPE)

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1990 U-VAN

CONDITION:

---------- Squeak and or itch type noise from steering column mast jacket at instrument panel.

CAUSE:

------ Steering column contacts instrument panel.

CORRECTION:

----------- Add 3M #5430 Squeak Reduction Tape (10 inch length) or equivalent approximately 15 mm from end of bowl as indicated in illustration.

1. Lower steering column. Refer to Service Manual.

2. Add tape as illustrated.

3. Raise and secure steering column.
