1992 U-van vehicles equipped with 3800 (VIN L) engines and up-integrated cruise control, may exhibit a "Cruise Control Inoperative" condition which cannot be isolated using the Cruise Control System check (Chart C-17) in Section 6E3 of the Service Manual. This condition can be caused by an open TCC brake switch input circuit to the PCM. If the cause of a "Cruise Control Inoperative" condition cannot be determined after completing the Cruise Control System check (Chart C-17), perform procedure in the Code 38 Chart in Section 6E3-A for TCC brake switch circuit diagnosis.
Please file and additional copy in Section 9B of your 1992 Lumina Service Manual.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
