This bulletin has been revised to add a sentence to condition 1, add (Figure 1) to correction 1, add the name Lubriplate and (Figure 2) to to correction 2 and to add Seat Back Looseness to the title.
This bulletin addresses two areas of Squeak/Rattle conditions on the rear bucket seats. Both areas should be investigated as a possible source of noise on all rear bucket seats.
----------- 1. Rattle type noise with vehicle in motion and rear seats are not occupied and seat back is in upright position. The seat back may also have "loose" feel when in upright and locked position.
2. Squeak or chirp noise from rear leg latch plate and handle.
------ 1. Rubber bumper located on left side of seat at folding hinge (See Figure 1) missing or deteriorated.
2. Insufficient or lack of lubrication on latch plate.
----------- Remove rear seat from vehicle:
1. Install new bumper, P/N 12508731. (Figure 1)
2. Apply GM Lubriplate lubricant, P/N 1050109 or equivalent to both ends of latch plate on both sides of seats. (Figure 2)
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
