The ABS light may come on and one or both of the rear wheels will not turn after being parked during cold weather.
When the rear brake shoes are damp and the temperature is 32 degrees F or lower, the rear brake shoes may temporarily freeze to the brake drums. This condition may be the result of moisture intrusion from a car wash, freezing rain, or heavy slush, and then parking the vehicle before the brakes have dried out.
Replace the rear brake shoes with the P/N listed below. The new shoes have a lower metallic content and will more easily free up from the brake drum.
92 VEHICLES ONLY:

Clear any stored ABS codes using a TECH 1. Codes set with the condition are 23, 24 and/or 31.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
