Muffler W/ Tail Pipe

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to General Information.

  2. Object Number: 73504  Size: SH
  3. Remove the catalytic converter to muffler clamp.

  4. Object Number: 73507  Size: SH
  5. Remove the tailpipe hanger from the pipe only.

  6. Object Number: 73508  Size: SH
  7. Remove the muffler hanger from the insulator and the retainer.

  8. Object Number: 73509  Size: SH
  9. Remove the muffler tailpipe from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 73509  Size: SH
  1. Position the muffler/tailpipe to the vehicle.

  2. Object Number: 73508  Size: SH
  3. Install the muffler hanger into the insulator and the retainer.

  4. Object Number: 73507  Size: SH
  5. Install the tailpipe hanger onto the pipe.
  6. Install the muffler inlet to the converter outlet.

  7. Object Number: 73504  Size: SH
  8. Install the catalytic converter to muffler clamp
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the clamp to 68 N·m (50 lb ft).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
