Subject: | White Stain on Engine Hood Liner |
Models: | 2007 Chevrolet Caprice, Lumina (Export) |
Some vehicles may develop a white stain on the hood liner as shown above.
During vehicle production, every vehicle goes through a water test. In some cases, water runs around the edge of the hood insulator and gets onto the insulator. Salts in the insulator material then leach out. Upon drying, a white deposit is left behind.
To remove this stain, mix citric acid powder with demineralized water in the following concentration: 50 grams powder into 1L demineralized water.
Using a spray bottle, spray the solution directly onto the white stains. This should remove the white deposit immediately.
Important: Wipe any overspray from engine bay area, painted hood and insulator retainers with a clean damp cloth.
• | Citric acid powder (can be purchased from most supermarkets) |
• | Distilled/deionized water (as used for battery top-up is acceptable) |
