Subject: | Front End Knock Noise When Striking Bump (Replace Engine Mounts) |
Models: | 2007-2008 Chevrolet Caprice, Lumina (Export) |
Some customers may comment on a knock noise from the front of the vehicle that occurs when striking a small raised road imperfection, such as a speed bump or a raised tar joint. The noise may be described as being similar to striking a heavy piece of timber and is experienced generally when both wheels strike the object simultaneously.
This condition may be caused by a cavitation condition within the hydraulic engine mounts.
Confirm the condition by test driving the vehicle. Following ATWM approval, replace the engine mounts with the P/Ns listed in the Parts Information section below. These new engine mounts feature a revised one way by-pass valve and a revised oil channel design.
