Removal Procedure - Rear

    Important: 

       • Always use replacement cables that are of the same type, diameter and length of the cables that you are replacing.
       • Always route the replacement cable the same as the original cable.

  1. Remove the front floor panel carpet. Refer to Front Floor Panel Carpet Replacement.

    2. Object Number: 2017395 Size: SH
  2. Remove the battery positive cable to battery positive terminal retaining nut (1).

    3. Important: Clean any existing corrosion from the battery positive terminal (2) and the battery positive cable (3).

  3. Remove the battery positive cable (3) from the battery positive terminal (2).
  4. Disconnect the rear fuse block electrical connector (4).

    5. Object Number: 2017927 Size: SH
  5. Detach the remote battery positive post cover (2) from the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3).

    6. Important: Remove the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) by pressing the retaining clip (1) and lifting the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) upwards.

  6. Remove the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) from the remote battery positive cable lower protective cover (4).

  7. Remove the remote battery positive post to battery positive cable retaining bolt (1).
  8. Remove the battery positive cable (2).

    9. Object Number: 2020819 Size: SH
  9. Remove the battery positive cable to chassis retaining brackets (3).
  10. Remove the battery positive cable to chassis retaining clips (1).
  11. Remove the battery positive cable (2) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure - Rear

    Object Number: 2020819 Size: SH
  1. Install the battery positive cable (2) to the vehicle.
  2. Install the battery positive cable to chassis retaining clips (1).
  3. Install the battery positive cable to chassis retaining brackets (3).

    4. Object Number: 1958688 Size: SH
  4. Install the battery positive cable (2) to the remote battery post.

    5. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Install the remote battery positive post to battery positive cable retaining bolt (1)

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).


    Object Number: 2017927 Size: SH

    Important: Listen for an audible click from the retaining clip (1) to confirm correct fitting of the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) to the remote battery positive cable lower protective cover (4).

  6. Install the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) to the remote battery positive cable lower protective cover (4).
  7. Attach the battery post cover (2) to the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3).

    8. Object Number: 2017395 Size: SH
  8. Connect the rear fuse block electrical connector (4).
  9. Install the battery positive cable (3) to the battery positive terminal (2).

    10. Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

  10. Install the battery positive cable to battery positive terminal retaining nut (1).
  11. Install the front floor panel carpet. Refer to Front Floor Panel Carpet Replacement.

Removal Procedure - Front (3.6L Engine)

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  2. Remove the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement.

    3. Object Number: 2017927 Size: SH
  3. Detach the remote battery positive post cover (2) from the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3).

    4. Important: Remove the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) by pressing the retaining clip (1) and lifting the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) upwards.

  4. Remove the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) from the remote battery positive cable lower protective cover (4).

  5. Remove the remote battery positive post to battery positive cable retaining bolt (2).
  6. Disconnect the front battery positive cable (3) from the battery post.
  7. Disconnect the rear battery positive cable (1) from the battery post.

    8. Object Number: 1958675 Size: SH
  8. Remove the underhood body electrical centre (UBEC) cover (1).
  9. Remove the front battery positive cable protective cover (3).
  10. Remove the front battery positive cable to UBEC plate retaining nut (5).
  11. Disconnect the front battery positive cable (2) from the UBEC plate (4).

    12. Object Number: 2017928 Size: SH

    Important: Reposition the protective boot on the front battery positive cable (3) to gain access to the front battery positive cable to alternator retaining nut (1).

  12. Remove the front battery positive cable to alternator retaining nut (1).
  13. Disconnect the front battery positive cable (3) from the alternator (2).

    14. Object Number: 2020834 Size: SH
  14. Remove the front battery positive cable to chassis retaining clips (2).
  15. Remove the front battery positive cable (1) from the engine compartment.

Installation Procedure - Front (3.6L Engines)

    Object Number: 2020834 Size: SH
  1. Install the front battery positive cable (1) to the engine compartment.
  2. Install the front battery positive cable to chassis retaining clips (2).

    3. Object Number: 2017928 Size: SH
  3. Connect the front battery positive cable (2) to the alternator (3).

    4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  4. Install the front battery positive cable to alternator retaining nut (1).

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 13 N·m (115 lb in).


    Object Number: 1958675 Size: SH
  5. Connect the front battery positive cable (2) to the UBEC plate (4).
  6. Install the front battery positive cable to the UBEC plate retaining nut (5).

    7. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 10 N·m(89 lb in).

  7. Install the front battery positive cable protective cover (3) to the positive cable.
  8. Install the UBEC cover (1).

    9. Object Number: 2020830 Size: SH
  9. Connect the rear battery positive cable (1) to the battery post.
  10. Connect the front battery positive cable (3) to the battery post.
  11. Install the remote battery positive post to the battery positive cable retaining bolt (2).

    12. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

    Important: Listen for an audible click from the retaining clip (1) to confirm correct fitting of the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) to the remote battery positive cable lower protective cover (4).

  12. Install the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) to the remote battery positive cable lower protective cover (4).
  13. Attach the remote battery positive post cover (2) to the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3).
  14. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  15. Install the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement.

Removal Procedure - Front (6.0L Engines)

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  2. Remove the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement.

  3. Detach the remote battery positive post cover (2) from the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3).

    4. Important: Remove the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) by pressing the retaining clip (1) and lifting the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) upwards.

  4. Remove the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) from the remote battery positive cable lower protective cover (4).

  5. Remove the remote battery positive post to battery positive cable retaining bolt (2).
  6. Disconnect the front battery positive cable (3) from the remote battery positive post.
  7. Disconnect the rear battery positive cable (1) from the remote battery positive post.

    8. Object Number: 1958675 Size: SH
  8. Remove the underhood body electrical centre (UBEC) cover (1).
  9. Remove the front battery positive cable protective cover (3).
  10. Remove the front battery positive cable to UBEC plate retaining bolt (5).
  11. Disconnect the front battery positive cable (2) from the UBEC plate (4).

    12. Object Number: 2017929 Size: SH

    Important: Reposition the protective boot on the front battery positive cable (2) to gain access to the front battery positive cable to alternator retaining nut (1).

  12. Remove the front battery positive cable to alternator retaining nut (1).
  13. Remove the front battery positive cable (2) from the alternator (3).

    14. Object Number: 2017930 Size: SH
  14. Remove the front battery positive cable to chassis retaining clips (2).
  15. Remove the front battery positive cable (1) from the engine compartment.

Installation Procedure - Front 6.0L Engines)

    Object Number: 2017930 Size: SH
  1. Install the front battery positive cable (1) to the engine compartment.
  2. Install the front battery positive cable to chassis retaining clips (2).

    3. Object Number: 2017929 Size: SH
  3. Connect the front battery positive cable (2) to the alternator (3).

    4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  4. Install the front battery positive cable to alternator retaining nut (1).

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 13 N·m (115 lb in).


    Object Number: 1958675 Size: SH
  5. Connect the front battery positive cable (2) to the UBEC plate (4).
  6. Install the front battery positive cable to UBEC plate retaining bolt (5).

    7. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 10 N·m(89 lb in).

  7. Install the front battery positive cable protective cover (3) to the positive cable.
  8. Install the UBEC cover (1).

    9. Object Number: 2020830 Size: SH
  9. Connect the rear battery positive cable (1) to the remote battery positive post.
  10. Connect the front battery positive cable (3) to the remote battery positive post.
  11. Install the remote battery positive post to battery positive cable retaining bolt (2).

    12. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

    Important: Listen for an audible click from the retaining clip (1) to confirm correct fitting of the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) to the remote battery positive cable lower protective cover (4).

  12. Install the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) to the remote battery positive cable lower protective cover (4).
  13. Attach the remote battery positive post cover (2) to the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3).
  14. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  15. Install the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement.

Removal Procedure - Starter (3.6L Engine)

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  2. Remove the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement.

    3. Object Number: 2017927 Size: SH
  3. Detach the remote battery positive post cover (2) from the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3).

    4. Important: Remove the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) by pressing the retaining clip (1) and lifting the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) upwards.

  4. Remove the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) from the remote battery positive cable lower protective cover (4).

    5. Object Number: 1958688 Size: SH
  5. Remove the remote positive battery post to battery positive cable retaining bolt (1).
  6. Disconnect the starter battery positive cable (2) from the remote positive battery post.

    7. Caution: Refer to Safety Glasses Caution in the Preface section.

    Caution: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in the Preface section.

  7. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.

    8. Object Number: 2017933 Size: SH
  8. Remove the starter battery positive cable to starter motor retaining nut (2).
  9. Disconnect the starter battery positive cable (1) from the starter motor (3).
  10. Lower the vehicle.

    11. Object Number: 2017934 Size: SH
  11. Detach the starter battery positive cable (1) from the starter battery positive cable retaining clip (2).
  12. Remove the starter battery positive cable (1) from the engine compartment.

Installation Procedure - Starter (3.6L Engine)

    Object Number: 2017934 Size: SH
  1. Install the starter battery positive cable (1) to the engine compartment.
  2. Attach the starter battery positive cable (1) to the starter battery positive cable retaining clip (2).
  3. Raise the vehicle.

    4. Object Number: 2017933 Size: SH
  4. Connect the starter battery positive cable (1) to the starter motor (3).

    5. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Install the starter battery positive cable to starter motor retaining nut (2).

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  6. Lower the vehicle.

    7. Object Number: 1958688 Size: SH
  7. Connect the starter battery positive cable (2) to the remote battery positive post.
  8. Install the remote battery positive post to battery positive cable retaining bolt (2).

    9. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).


    Object Number: 2017927 Size: SH

    Important: Listen for an audible click from the retaining clip (1) to confirm correct fitting of the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) to the remote battery positive cable lower protective cover (4).

  9. Install the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) to the remote battery positive cable lower protective cover (4).
  10. Attach the remote battery positive post cover (2) to the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3).
  11. Install the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement.
  12. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.

Removal Procedure - Starter (6.0L Engine)

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  2. Remove the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement.

    3. Object Number: 2017927 Size: SH
  3. Detach the remote battery positive post cover (2) from the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3).

    4. Important: Remove the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) by pressing the retaining clip (1) and lifting the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) upwards.

  4. Remove the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) from the remote battery positive cable lower protective cover (4).

    5. Object Number: 1958688 Size: SH
  5. Remove the remote battery positive post to battery positive cable retaining bolt (1).
  6. Disconnect the starter battery positive cable (2) to the remote battery positive post.

    7. Caution: Refer to Safety Glasses Caution in the Preface section.

    Caution: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in the Preface section.

  7. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  8. Remove the right catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement - Right Side.

    9. Object Number: 1951065 Size: SH
  9. Remove the starter motor heat shield to starter motor retaining bolts (1).
  10. Remove the starter motor heat shield (2) from the starter motor.

    11. Object Number: 2017936 Size: SH
  11. Remove the starter battery positive cable to starter motor retaining nut (1).
  12. Disconnect the starter battery positive cable (2) from the starter motor (3).
  13. Lower the vehicle.

    14. Object Number: 2020836 Size: SH
  14. Detach the starter battery positive cable from the chassis retaining clips (2).
  15. Remove the starter battery positive cable (1) from the engine compartment.

Installation Procedure - Starter (6.0L Engine)

    Object Number: 2020836 Size: SH
  1. Install the starter battery positive cable (1) to the engine compartment.
  2. Attach the starter battery positive cable to the chassis retaining clips (2).
  3. Raise the vehicle.

    4. Object Number: 2017936 Size: SH
  4. Connect the starter battery positive cable (2) to the starter motor (3).

    5. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Install the starter battery positive cable to starter motor retaining nut (1).

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 10  N·m (89 lb in).


    Object Number: 1951065 Size: SH
  6. Install the starter motor heat shield to the starter motor (2).
  7. Install the starter motor heat shield to starter motor retaining bolts (1).

    8. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to (5)  N·m (44 lb in).

  8. Lower the vehicle.

    9. Object Number: 1958688 Size: SH
  9. Connect the starter battery positive cable (2) to the remote battery positive post.
  10. Install the remote battery positive post to battery positive cable retaining bolt (2).

    11. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

    Important: Listen for an audible click from the retaining clip (1) to confirm correct fitting of the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) to the remote battery positive cable lower protective cover (4).

  11. Install the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) to the remote battery positive cable lower protective cover (4).
  12. Attach the remote battery positive post cover (2) to the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3).
  13. Install the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement.
  14. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
