Removal Procedure

    Important:  When a suitable hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.

  1. Support the endgate with a suitable brace.

    2. Object Number: 2007994 Size: SH
  2. Remove the endgate cable to body retaining screw (1).
  3. Remove the endgate cable (3) from the endgate latch striker (2).

    4. Object Number: 2007995 Size: SH
  4. Remove the endgate latch striker to body retaining screw (1).
  5. Remove the endgate latch striker (2) from the body (3).

Installation Procedure

    Important:  Use a suitable tool to support the endgate during the replacement procedure, this will prevent the endgate and body from being damaged.

  1. Support the endgate with a suitable tool.

    2. Object Number: 2007995 Size: SH
  2. Position the endgate latch striker (2) to the body (3).

    3. Important: The endgate latch striker to body retaining screw (1) must not be fully tightened at this stage.

  3. Install the endgate latch striker to body retaining screw (1)

    4. DO NOT fully tighten at this stage.

  4. Install the endgate cable (3) to the endgate latch striker (2).

    5. Important: The endgate latch striker to body retaining screw (1) must not be fully tightened at this stage.

  5. Install the endgate latch striker to body retaining screw (1)

    6. DO NOT fully tighten at this stage.

  6. Check the endgate front-to-rear (flushness) position.
  7. Adjust the endgate front-to-rear position with the position of the endgate striker, if required.

    8. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  8. Tighten the endgate latch striker to body retaining screw (1).

    9. Tighten
    Tighten the screw to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  9. Tighten the endgate latch striker (2) to endgate retaining screw (1).

    10. Tighten
    Tighten the screw to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  10. Remove the support from the endgate.
