Removal Procedure

    Important:  When a suitable hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.

  1. Support the endgate with a suitable brace.
  2. Remove the endgate cable. Refer to Endgate Cable Replacement .

    3. Object Number: 2008003 Size: SH
  3. Remove the endgate handle to endgate lock retaining screw (1).
  4. Remove the endgate handle (3) from the endgate lock (2).

    5. Object Number: 2007998 Size: SH
  5. Remove the endgate to endgate liner retaining scrivets (1). Repeat for opposite side.

    6. Object Number: 2007999 Size: SH
  6. Remove the endgate to endgate liner retaining screws (1).

    7. Object Number: 2008000 Size: SH
  7. Remove the endgate to endgate liner retaining screws (1).

    8. Object Number: 2008001 Size: SH

    Important: Take care when passing the endgate liner over the endgate latch. Failure to do so may deform the endgate liner (1).

  8. Carefully pass the endgate liner (1) over the endgate latch (2). repeat for opposite side.

    9. Object Number: 2008002 Size: SH

    Important: Carefully lift the endgate liner (1) to remove from the endgate (2).

  9. Remove the endgate liner (1) from the endgate (2).

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 2008002 Size: SH
  1. Position the endgate liner (1) to the endgate (2).

    2. Object Number: 2008001 Size: SH

    Important: Take care when passing the endgate liner over the endgate latch failure to do so may deform the endgate liner.

  2. Carefully pass the endgate liner (1) over the endgate latch (2). repeat for opposite side.

    3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 2008000 Size: SH
  3. Install the engate to endgate liner retaining screws (1).

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 1.5 N·m (13 lb in).


    Object Number: 2007999 Size: SH
  4. Install the engate to endgate liner retaining screws (1).

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 1.5 N·m (13 lb in).


    Object Number: 2007998 Size: SH
  5. Install the endgate to endgate liner retaining scrivets (1). Repeat for opposite side.

    6. Object Number: 2008003 Size: SH
  6. Install the endgate handle (3) to the endgate lock (2).
  7. Install the endgate handle to endgate lock retaining screw (1).

    8. Tighten
    Tighten the screw to 7 N·m (62 lb in).

  8. Install the endgate cable. Refer to Endgate Cable Replacement .
  9. Remove the support from the endgate.
