Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Approved Equipment for Collision Repair Caution in the Preface section.

    Caution: Refer to Safety Glasses Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  3. Caution: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in the Preface section.

  4. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  5. Remove the rear bumper fascia. Refer to Rear Bumper Fascia Replacement .
  6. Remove the rear muffler assembly. Refer to Exhaust Muffler Replacement - Left Side and/or Exhaust Muffler Replacement - Right Side .
  7. Note the location and remove the sealers and anti-corrosion materials from the repair area, as necessary. Refer to Anti-Corrosion Treatment and Repair .

  8. Object Number: 2017401  Size: SH

    Important: Note the number and location of welds for installation of the service assembly.

  9. Locate, mark and drill out all factory welds attaching the rear muffler hanger bracket to the rear muffler hanger bracket assembly (1).
  10. Remove the rear muffler hanger bracket .

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 2017902  Size: SH

    Important: The muffler hanger bracket is supplied as part of the rear muffler hanger bracket assembly. The rear muffler hanger bracket needs to be removed from the rear muffler hanger bracket assembly before installation to the vehicle.

  1. Locate, mark and drill out all factory welds attaching the rear muffler hanger bracket to the rear muffler hanger bracket assembly (1).

  2. Object Number: 2017900  Size: SH

    Important: Spot welding is the preferred method for attaching panels and should be used whenever possible. A plug weld should only be performed where spot welding is not possible.

  3. Align the rear muffler hanger bracket to the weld points marked during removal from the rear muffler hanger bracket assembly on the vehicle and weld the rear muffler hanger bracket to the rear muffler hanger bracket assembly (1).
  4. Apply the sealers, and anti-corrosion materials to the repair area, as necessary. Refer to Anti-Corrosion Treatment and Repair .
  5. Paint the repaired area. Refer to Basecoat/Clearcoat Paint Systems .
  6. Install the rear muffler assembly. Refer to Exhaust Muffler Replacement - Left Side and/or Exhaust Muffler Replacement - Right Side .
  7. Install the rear bumper fascia. Refer to Rear Bumper Fascia Replacement .
  8. Lower the vehicle.
  9. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  10. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
