Removal Procedure
- Lift the rear window shelf trim battery access panel (1)
upwards to gain access to the battery.
Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.
- Remove the battery negative terminal to battery negative post retaining nut (3).
Important: Clean any existing corrosion from the battery
negative terminal (1) and the battery negative post (2).
- Remove the battery negative terminal (1) from the battery negative post (2).
- Remove the battery positive terminal to battery positive post retaining
nut (4).
Important: Clean any existing corrosion from the battery
positive terminal (6) and the battery positive post (5).
- Remove the battery positive terminal (6) from the battery positive post (5).
- Remove the battery retainer strap to battery retaining
nut (5).
- Remove the battery retainer strap to vehicle retaining nut (3).
- Remove the battery retainer strap (4) from the vehicle.
- Remove the battery retainer plate to vehicle retaining bolts (7)
- Remove the battery retainer plate (6) from the vehicle.
- Detach the battery vent hose (1) from the battery (2).
- Remove the battery (2) from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Install the battery (2) into the vehicle.
- Attach the battery vent hose (1) to the battery (2).
- Install the battery retainer plate (6) to the vehicle.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the battery retainer plate to vehicle retaining bolts (7)
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install the battery retainer strap (4) to the vehicle.
- Install the battery retainer strap to vehicle retaining bolt (3).
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install the battery retainer strap to battery retaining nut (5).
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).
Important: Clean any existing corrosion from the battery
positive terminal (6) and the battery positive post (5).
- Install the battery positive terminal (6) from the battery positive post (5).
- Install the battery positive terminal to battery positive post retaining
nut (4).
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).
Important: Clean any existing corrosion from the battery
negative terminal (1) and the battery negative post (2).
- Install the battery negative terminal (1) to the battery negative post (2).
- Install the battery negative terminal to battery negative post retaining
nut (3).
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).
- Refit the rear window shelf trim battery access panel (1).
