Cleaning Procedure
- Clean the exhaust manifold in solvent.
Caution: Refer to Safety Glasses Caution in the Preface section.
- Dry the exhaust manifold with compressed air.
Inspection Procedure
- Inspect the left exhaust manifold for the following:
• | Damage or corrosion above acceptable tolerances to the exhaust manifold
exterior. |
• | Damage to the exhaust manifold mounting holes. |
• | Damage to the threaded holes for the heat shield. |
• | Damage to the exhaust manifold flange bolt holes. |
• | Damage to the gasket sealing surfaces. |
• | Damage or restrictions within the exhaust passages. |
- Repair or replace the left exhaust manifold and/or components as necessary.
- Measure the alignment or surface flatness of the exhaust
manifold (2) flanges, using a straight edge (1) and a feeler gauge (3).
Exhaust manifold surface flatness must not exceed 0.254 mm (0.010 in).
- If the surface flatness is not within specifications, the exhaust manifold (2)
is warped and must be replaced.
