Diagnostic Fault Information
Perform the
Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle
prior to using this diagnostic procedure.
Circuit/System Description
The power window express function is operated by the window switch, window motor
and power window control module. The system is powered by a battery supply circuit,
ignition supply and retained accessory power signal circuit. These determine when
the window may be operated. The switch signal circuits supply battery voltage which
is supplied via a relay and monitored within the BCM. When a front window switch is
pulled for a duration of .4 seconds the express up function is acknowledged by the
power window control module and supplies power to the window until it reaches the
fully up position.

Circuit/System Verification
- Verify that the Retained Accessory Power (RAP) circuit is functioning
normally.
Circuit/System Testing
Window Switch Test
- Disconnect the window switch harness connector.
- Verify less than 1 ohm of resistance from the ground circuit terminal
and ground.
⇒ | If the resistance is greater than the specified value, repair the ground circuit
for an open/high resistance. |
- Ignition On, connect a fused jumper wire from the ground circuit terminal
in the harness connector to the open signal circuit terminal and verify that the window
opens.
⇒ | If the window does not open perform the Window Motor Circuit Test. |
- Connect a fused jumper wire from the ground circuit terminal to the close
signal circuit terminal and verify that the window closes.
⇒ | If the window does not close perform the Window Motor Circuit Test. |
- Connect a fused jumper wire from the ground circuit terminal to the open
signal circuit terminal and verify that the window opens.
⇒ | If the window does not open perform the Window Motor Circuit Test. |
- Connect a fused jumper wire from the ground circuit terminal to the close
signal circuit terminal and verify that the window closes.
⇒ | If the window does not close perform the Window Motor Circuit Test. |
- Connect a fused jumper wires from the ground circuit terminal to the express
signal circuit terminal the open signal circuit terminal and verify that the wind
express closes.
⇒ | If the window does not express close perform the Window Motor Circuit Test. |
- If all circuits test normal, replace the window switch.
Window Motor Circuit Test
- Disconnect the window motor harness connector.
- Verify less than 1 ohm of resistance from the ground circuit terminal
and ground.
⇒ | If the resistance is greater than the specified value, repair the ground circuit
for an open/high resistance. |
- Connect a test lamp from the ground circuit terminal to the battery supply
circuit terminal and verify that the test lamp illuminates.
⇒ | If the test lamp does not illuminate, repair the battery supply circuit for
an open/high resistance or short to ground. |
- Ignition on, connect a test lamp from the ground circuit terminal to the
ignition supply circuit terminal and verify that the test lamp illuminates.
⇒ | If the test lamp does not illuminate, repair the ignition supply circuit for
an open/high resistance or short to ground. |
- Ignition on, connect a test lamp from the ground circuit terminal to the
accessory supply circuit terminal and verify that the test lamp illuminates.
⇒ | If the test lamp does not illuminate, repair the accessory supply circuit for
an open/high resistance or short to ground. |
- Connect the window motor connector and disconnect the window switch connector.
- Ignition on, verify that battery voltage is present at each of the switch
signal circuit terminals in the switch harness connector.
⇒ | If battery voltage is not present at all of the signal circuits, test the affected
signal circuit for an open/high resistance or short to ground. If the circuit tests
normal replace the window motor. |
- If all circuits test normal, replace the window motor.
