DTC Descriptor
DTC C0565 47: VIN Not Programmed (Vehicle Identification
Number)
DTC C0565 71: VIN Mismatch (Vehicle Identification Number)
Circuit/System Description
The electronic brake control module (EBCM) learns the model it is installed
in, by using the vehicle ID information via the serial data line. Each time the vehicle
is in the RUN position or the instrument panel cluster (IPC) communicates this information
the EBCM internally compares the VIN information with the information stored. If the
VIN is incorrect, the EBCM will indicate a VIN information error is present.
When the EBCM is replaced, software and calibrations are flash programmed into
the EBCM. The EBCM receives the vehicle identification number information from the
vehicle in order for the EBCM to automatically calibrate to the vehicle.
Conditions for Running the DTC
• | Ignition voltage is greater than 8 volts. |
Conditions for Setting the DTC
• | The incorrect EBCM is installed on the vehicle. |
• | The incorrect software or calibrations have been flash programmed into
the EBCM. |
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
One or more of the following actions may occur:
• | The EBCM disables the Antilock Brake System (ABS)/Traction Control System
(TCS)/Electronic Stability Control (ESP) for the duration of the ignition cycle. |
• | The multi function display (MFD) displays the ABS Fault message. |
• | The multi function display (MFD) displays the Traction Ctrl Off message. |
• | The multi function display (MFD) displays the Stability Ctrl Off message. |
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
C0565 47
• | The condition for setting the DTC is no longer present. |
• | The VIN information transmitted from the instrument cluster matches the
information stored in the EBCM |
C0565 71
• | The condition for setting the DTC is no longer present. |
• | The VIN information transmitted from the instrument cluster matches is
stored in the EBCM. |
