- Remove the blown fuse from the fuse holder (2),
leaving the battery connected.
- Connect the short finder (1).
- Close all switches (6) in series with the circuit being tested.
- Operate the short finder (1). This will pulse current into the
circuit to create a magnetic field (3) surrounding the circuit wiring between
the fuse and the short (4).
- Slowly move the short finder meter (7) along the circuit wiring
beginning at the fuse block.
The short finder meter needle will move
to show current pulses through interior body and trim.
- The location where the short finder meter needle stops moving (5),
is the origin of the short. Examine the wiring in that location for the short to ground.
- Repair the circuit as required, refer to the appropriate repair procedure.
