The electronic brake control module (EBCM) performs several self-tests for internal concerns which may affect correct operation. The EBCM controls valve function by grounding the solenoid circuit when necessary.
• | The ignition is ON. |
• | The vehicle is moving. |
A short to voltage, open or ground is detected at the solenoids within the brake modulator assembly.
• | The EBCM disables the Antilock Brake System (ABS)/Traction Control System (TCS)/Electronic Stability Control (ESP)/Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) for the duration of the ignition cycle. |
• | The multi function display (MFD) displays the ABS Fault message. |
• | The multi function display (MFD) displays the Traction Ctrl Off message. |
• | The multi function display (MFD) displays the Stability Ctrl Off message. |
• | The red BRAKE Warning indicator turns ON. |
• | The EBCM disables the Antilock Brake System (ABS)/Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) for the duration of the ignition cycle. |
• | The multi function display (MFD) displays the ABS Fault message. |
• | The red BRAKE Warning indicator turns ON. |
• | The condition for setting the DTC is no longer present. |
• | The EBCM automatically clears the history DTC when a current DTC is not detected in 100 consecutive drive cycles. |
• | The DTC can be cleared using a scan tool. |
The EBCM should be replaced if any of these DTCs continue to set intermittently.

Using a scan tool, clear current DTCs.
⇒ | If the DTC is set to current, replace the EBCM. |
• | Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the diagnostic procedure. |
