Subject: | Radio Antenna Mast Deflection at High Speed |
Models: | 2007 Chevrolet Caprice, Lumina (Export) |
Isolated reports have been received of the radio antenna deflecting during high speed driving. The resulting whipping motion causes the antenna to strike the rear glass. While this is not detrimental to the antenna or the glass, the noise created could be dissatisfing to some customers.
This condition requires:
• | Antenna mast stiffness at the lower end of the specification range. |
• | Vehicle wind speed close to or above 200 km/h. |
As reports are extremely isolated, production rectification is not planned at this stage and will be developed only in the event that a significant number of reports are received to indicate that this condition is widespread.
A small number of antennas with stiffness selected at the top of the specification range have been provided to GMME TAC.
In the event of a customer complaint, contact TAC. They will arrange to provide a replacement antenna of maximum stiffness. Note that any request for the top limit part must be accompanied by a PIR, providing as much detail as possible regarding vehicle speed at the time of antenna striking the glass.
