Subject: | 07350 -- Service Update for Inventory and Customer Vehicles - Recalibration of Rear Seat Entertainment Module -- Expires July 1, 2009 |
Models: | 2007-2009 Chevrolet Lumina and Caprice (Export Only) |
Equipped with Rear Seat Entertainment System (RSE) |
THIS SERVICE UPDATE INCLUDES VEHICLES IN DEALER/RETAILER INVENTORY AND CUSTOMER VEHICLES THAT RETURN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR ANY REASON. IT WILL EXPIRE ON JULY 1, 2009.
The action described below will prevent the possibility of RSE module remaining active following clearing of diagnostic trouble codes. This condition may result in battery discharge.
This bulletin supersedes Service Bulletin H07-08-06 by escalating action instructed in that bulletin to rework all vehicles at next service. This Update action provides an instruction to carry out recalibration of the RSE module on all vehicles built with Rear Seat Entertainment System prior to the breakpoints shown below, and included in the listing of affected vehicles.
Recalibration will ensure that the RSE module will reset following Tech 2 clearing of codes. Vehicles built prior to this breakpoint may experience battery discharge following clearing of codes, due to module remaining in active status.
This service procedure should be completed on involved vehicles currently in dealership/retailer inventory as soon as possible but no later than July 1, 2009, at which time this bulletin will expire.
Involved are certain Chevrolet Lumina and Caprice 2007, 2008 and some 2009 model year vehicles built within these VIN breakpoints:
Year | Division | Model | From | Through |
---|---|---|---|---|
2007/8 | Chevrolet | Lumina/CSV | 6G1EK54H97L836438 | 6G1EK54U48L981157 |

Important: Dealers are to confirm vehicle eligibility prior to beginning repairs by using GMVIS. Not all vehicles within the above breakpoints may be involved.
For dealers with involved vehicles, a listing with involved vehicles containing the complete vehicle identification number, customer name, and address information has been prepared and will be sent directly to dealers. Dealers will not have a report available if they have no involved vehicles currently assigned.
The listing may contain customer names and addresses obtained from Motor Vehicle Registration Records. The use of such motor vehicle registration data for any purpose other than follow-up necessary to complete this recall is a violation of law in several countries. Accordingly, you are urged to limit the use of this report to the follow-up necessary to complete this recall.
No parts are required for this action.
Rework action is to reprogram the RSE Module.
Note: Failure to maintain correct battery voltage during SPS programming may result in applying a partial calibration update or cause damage to the module.
