A new fastener kit, J-28664-6, has been released for all THM 125 and THM 125C transmission support fixtures J-28664. Each dealership is being provided with one (1) kit at no charge. Contact Kent-Moore Tool Division for such additional kits as are required when the dealership has more than one such fixture.
The addition of this fastener kit to the transmission support fixture will decrease the possibility of personal injury or transmission damage occuring due to failure to use all the bolts necessary to hold the transmission in place.
The installation procedure of the transmission support fixture J-28664 onto either the THM 125 or THM 125C is as follows:
1. Remove converter retaining strap J-28539 and converter.
2. Place the support fixture J-28664 on the transmission, installing attaching bolts marked 1, 2, and 3 as shown in Figure 1. Torque bolts to 11 N.m (8 ft.-lbs.).
Install all bolts as shown for the transmission support fixture J-28664 to reduce possibility of personal injury or transmission damage.
3. Install support fixture and transmission into transmission support fixture base J-3289-20. Install locating pin fully into base. Drain the transmission by turning the right hand axle end down.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
