Removal Procedure

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery.
  2. Disconnect the positive cable from the battery.
  3. Disconnect the air inlet. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement in Engine Controls - 2.4L. or Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.1L.

  5. Remove the cover from the underhood junction block (2) and the battery cable (1).
  6. Remove the splice pack from the inner fender.
  7. Pull the underhood junction block out of the bracket and rotate clockwise 180 degrees.
  8. Unsnap the bottom cover.
  9. Remove the connectors from the underhood junction block.
  10. Remove the underhood junction block.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the underhood junction block.
  2. Install the connectors to the underhood junction block.
  3. Snap the bottom cover.
  4. Rotate counterclockwise 180 degrees. Push the underhood junction block into the bracket.
  5. Splice the pack to the inner fender.
  6. Install the battery cable (1) and cover (2) to the underhood junction block.
  7. Connect the air inlet.
  8. Connect the positive cable to the battery.
  9. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  10. Connect the negative battery cable to the battery.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).
