Removal Procedure
- Remove the left sound insulator.
- Remove the left carpet retainer.
- Position the carpet and sound deadener aside.
- Disconnect the PCM electrical connections.
- Remove the PCM retaining bracket door.
- Remove the PCM by sliding the PCM out.
- Remove the PCM bracket.
- Remove the park brake lever nuts (5).
- Remove the park brake lever assembly (1).
- Disconnect the electrical connection from the lever assembly.
- Remove the park brake cable (3) from the lever attachment point (2).
Installation Procedure
- Connect the electrical connection to the lever assembly (1).
- Install the park brake lever assembly.
- Install the PCM bracket.
- Install the PCM by sliding the PCM in.
- Connect the PCM electrical connections.
- Position the left carpet and sound deadener.
- Install the carpet retainer.
- Install the left sound insulator.
Notice: Parking brake adjustment is not necessary. This is a self adjusting system and damage may result from attempting to adjust or modify this system in any way. It may be necessary to adjust the rear brakes to obtain the proper tension in the system.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the park brake lever nuts (5) to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
